Natural oil-absorbing material KC-100 demonstrates outstanding effectiveness in absorbing oils and hydrocarbons.

What is quenching oil ?

Quenching oil is a commonly used cooling medium in heat treatment production. It is formulated by blending crude oil with special additives. During prolonged use, quenching oil comes into direct contact with high-temperature workpieces and air, leading to a series of reactions such as oxidation, polymerization, and thermal decomposition. Inevitably, aging occurs, resulting in increased oil viscosity, higher acidity, and a significant decline in cooling performance. This, in turn, leads to the failure of hardened workpieces to meet process requirements and an increase in scrap rates. The substantial amount of waste quenching oil also poses challenges for wastewater treatment.

Traditionally, the disposal of waste quenching oil involved hiring waste disposal and recycling companies for direct collection and treatment. However, unscrupulous operators, without proper treatment or incomplete processing, irresponsibly dump and discharge these toxic industrial waste materials. This not only raises legal concerns but also contributes to environmental pollution, highlighting the importance of responsible and thorough handling to avoid negative consequences.

What is KC-100 oil-absorbing material ?

KC-100 oil-absorbing material, leveraging its unique feature of oil absorption without water absorption, excels in effectively absorbing hydrocarbons in water, thereby addressing COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) issues. Its characteristics include:

  1. Absorbs oil, hydrocarbons, and fuels without absorbing water.
  2. Floats on the water surface.
  3. 100% natural product.
  4. Each kilogram of KC-100 can absorb 9.43 liters of oil (CEDRE certified), minimizing  adsorbent and disposal costs.
  5. Exhibits excellent electrostatic performance, suitable for use in ATEX zones.
  6. Highly tolerant to a wide range of compounds.
  7. Non-corrosive and non-flammable solid.

Jar-Testing KC-100 absorption on waste quenching oil

Oil-absorbing product, KC-100, demonstrates its effectiveness in absorbing these viscous and challenging-to-handle waste quenching oils. Let's take a closer look at the absorption capabilities of KC-100!

Fill the filtration tube with KC-100, then slowly pour the waste quenching oil into it. Subsequently, measure the COD concentrations before and after filtration.

Left: Waste quenching oil after absorption by KC-100
                                   Right: Untreated waste quenching oil

                                     Left: Before using KC-100
Right: After absorbing waste quenching oil

The experimental results indicate that in the laboratory, after passing waste quenching oil through the filtration tube filled with KC-100 absorbing material, COD values were measured before and after filtration. It was observed that the initial COD measurement, which was as high as 32,425 mg/L, significantly decreased to 5,119 mg/L.
